SwissPedDose aims to increase the safety of the use of drugs in children and newborns. Medical professionals in the paediatric sector have access to dosage recommendations that have been developed in a standardised harmonisation process throughout Switzerland.

Association

The SwissPedDose association was founded by the eight largest children’s hospitals in Switzerland, the GSASA and pädiatrie schweiz in order to jointly operate a paediatric database.

Background

Drug therapy for children is problematic. There is a lack of safe drugs developed or adapted for children. Clinical studies in children are complex and therefore rare or lacking. Reliable data on drug use in paediatrics in Switzerland and abroad is therefore only partially available.

The dosage harmonisation process is based on a standardised process. The Category A children’s hospitals in Switzerland are key players in this process. They provide the basic data, evaluate and jointly decide on dosage recommendations.
