The SwissPedDose association was founded by the 8 Category A children’s hospitals (Aarau, Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lucerne, St. Gallen, Zurich) together with pädiatrie schweiz and the Swiss Association of Public Health Administration and Hospital Pharmacists (GSASA) in May 2017. From 1 April 2018 to 31 December 2025, it operated the national paediatric drug database on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH). This funding was discontinued as part of federal austerity measures. From 1 January 2026, the SwissPedDose association will operate the database at its own expense and will be dependent on donations.
